How the Pieces Fit Together
Most homeowners don't replace their entire exterior at once and they don't need to. But the order things go in matters, and a few combinations are smarter to bundle than others. Here's how we think about it on every estimate:
Siding sets the timeline.
Siding replacement is the biggest exterior project most homeowners take on, and it's the one that drives every other decision. New siding is the right time to upgrade soffit and fascia (you're already pulling them off), and it's the cleanest moment to swap windows.
Soffit, fascia, and gutters move together.
If your gutters are failing, your fascia is probably suffering too and vice versa. We almost always recommend tackling these together. Wisconsin freeze-thaw cycles are unforgiving on rotted fascia and overflowing gutters.
Windows can be standalone.
Window replacement doesn't require any other exterior work to be done first. It's the most common project we tackle on its own especially when energy bills are the driver. Modern Revere and Ply Gem windows pay back quickly in Wisconsin winters.
Doors are the easy upgrade.
